Singapore is located in south-east Asia at the southern tip of the Malaysian Peninsula, between Malaysia and Indonesia. It has a total area of 632.6 sq km of which 622.6 sq km is land. Singapore is an island with 193 km of coastline. Singapore is a cosmopolitan country with four million people of various ethnic communities and cultures, mainly Chinese, Malay, Indian and other smaller communities.  English is the language of business and administration. 
 

Due to its geographical location and being an island, Singapore's climate is warm with abundant rainfall, and thus high humidity. 

Being a food paradise, Singapore has a wide variety of Asian or Western cuisine which can be found everywhere in Singapore.  From food centers to expensive restaurants, there will be ample opportunities for people of any taste.

Universities in Singapore


Singapore has three universities:

1 Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
2 National University of Singapore (NUS)
3 Singapore Management University (SMU).


NTU is a big university and it has about 20,000 students out of which 20% are foreigners. NTU is one of the best  and recently feat as one of the top 10 Engineering Colleges in Asia. Faculty is from all over the world and the Profs are dead serious about their work...they don’t even bother with that additional extra tuition crap, as is the case with Profs teaching in Indian colleges.

                                       
How long does it take to process the student pass

Generally, international students need to allow 3 to 4 weeks time to get the students entry pass for them. In some cases students pass can be obtained even in half of the time. Student must have their travel document in-hand before they fly to Singapore. Accommodation in Singapore

 

Singapore offers a wide range of accommodation facilities for the international students and these are as follows:

Home stay
: Families in Singapore open up their homes to the students of home and abroad and    welcome them as part of the family.
Boarding House : Good lodging service providing single or shared accommodation with room cleaning, meals, laundry and monthly outdoor activities are available.
Hotels or Service Apartments : Depending on location and size, these residences are available at various costs.
Shared Accommodation/Independent Residences : Students can choose to live alone or share with other students . Lease terms are usually for 1Year or more


                         Currency of Singapore

Jobs for international students

The international students in private institutions are not allowed to work in Singapore at all, unless their course of study requires that they fulfill a certain number of hours as part of their curriculum. It is strongly advised that students should keep this information in their mind when applying to Singapore.
