Malaysia is located in south-east Asia bordering the South China Sea between Vietnam and Indonesia. Admission in Malaysian University/College

Getting admission into a Malaysian University/college is quite simple. But you will have to start the process at least 2 months before the course starts. There are usually 2 to 3 admission intakes in a year which are generally in Feb or July.

           Requirement of the Student Pass

Any foreign student who wishes to study in Malaysia is required to obtain a Student Pass from the Malaysian immigration authority. Foreign nationals who wish to study in any educational institution in Malaysia must accordingly apply for a Student Pass (Entry visa).

You must have an offer letter from an educational      institution of Malaysia.

You have been accepted for a full-time course of study at a Public or Private Higher.

Educational Institution approved by the Minister of Home    Affairs.

You have the financial capability to meet up the course  fees and living/travel expenses.

You do not intend to work in Malaysia and prepare to leave  Malaysia at the end of your studies.

Possess good health and character.

                                           Application Procedure for Student Pass

Under the simplified procedure Malaysian University/College will apply on your behalf for the Student Pass and you will be informed within 14 days of the application whether or not you have been successful. In such a  case you do not need to apply directly for visas from the Malaysian embassies/missions in your home country. All applications processing approval and issuance of Student Passes or Visas are done in Malaysia. Upon approval of the application for student pass the Headquarters of the Immigration Department in Kuala Lumpur will inform the foreign student concerned through the educational institution. Students must show their approval letter on arrival at the immigration point in Malaysia. A special pass will be issued, referring them to the respective State Immigration Department for issuance of Student’s pass. The education institution’s representative is also required to receive and attend to the student upon arrival. Within two weeks of their arrival in Malaysia, the educational institution is required to submit students’ passports to the Immigration Department to enable a Student Pass sticker to be affixed.

                       Work Opportunities in Malaysia

The visa and immigration regulations of Malaysia did not allow international students to work before but in very recent years policies in this regard have been changed. As per the new policy international students in the Malaysia can typically be allowed to work up to 20 hours a week in order to provide some source of income. What is also allowed is holiday work so if students are out of term time they can work full time in order to support their education.
